See Our Planets

I have planned to carry out a project to see our planets in our solar system. When some of my grandchildren also are interested, I create this page in order to be given them the opportunity to see our planets. Of course, other interested are also welcomed.
Our solar system, which is very old (4-5 billion years), consists of:

  • Our Sun

  • The inner planets Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars

  • The astorid zone between Mars and Jupiter

  • The outer planets Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus

  • And outside "the Oort Cloud", also known as comet cloud.

To get an idea of distances and sizes in our solar system see the Sweden Solar System

3 december I woke up at 05AM and found a clear sky, but cold -18 C. Dressed me and went out and saw

  • Jupiter in the west
  • Saturn, Venus and Mercury in the southeast

standing of the Earth. Hard to see Mercury and Saturn with the naked eye because of the moonlight. The easiest way to see them is when they appear over the horizon. Saturn about 05:15AM and Mercury about 06:45AM. Mercury will soon disappear into the sun light. The picture below at 07AM in Bålsta 3 December.

The planets that I have left are

  • Mars, which is now on the other side of the Sun and therefore delaying his revelation on the night sky.
  • Uranus, which you can not see with the naked eye, but need a telescope to see it.
  • Neptune, see Uranus.
